| When using the SET COLLECTION routine to collect your traverse information, it may be desirable to collect your topography data or side shots while still occupying the station. The SET COLLECTION routine allows you to set up the collection procedure for the traverse data, but only at the beginning of each set of data. If you choose to use a different procedure when collecting side shots, use the TOPOGRAPHY routine.
Use SET COLLECTION to collect only the traverse data with the options desired. When finished collecting data for the set(s) of the occupied station, the options to COLLECT MORE SETS, REVIEW SETS or CHANGE STATIONS will be displayed on the SDR Electronic Field Book. At this point, exit from the SET COLLECTION routine, Do not select CHANGE STATION at this time. After exiting from the SET COLLECTION routine select the TOPOGRAPHY routine.
At this point the SDR will prompt to CONFIRM ORIENTATION. Select OK and do not enter the point number into the station field as this will prompt for additional station and backsight information which will, in turn, generate a new station record for the occupied point. Generating a new station record will cause problems later in the file when performing a traverse adjustment in the SDR Electronic Field Book. The topography information can now be collected in the FACE 1 position and is not constrained to the same options that were specified in the SET COLLECTION routine.
Do not generate a new station record because the last station for a point is considered the most current. If the most current station does not contain the traverse information, an adjustment will not be possible.
After the topography information has been collected, exit the TOPOGRAPHY routine and return to the SET COLLECTION routine. Select CHANGE STATIONS and enter the new point to be occupied in the traverse. Traverse information can also be collected in the SDRs TOPOGRAPHY routine, but the options for collecting data are limited. Using TOPOGRAPHY, the options for collecting the data can be changed at anytime during the survey. |
